Kettle Corn NYC: Our Story

From a single kettle and a tent on the streets of New York City, to the heartwarming smiles of families who’ve made us part of their traditions — this is the journey of Kettle Corn NYC.

It all began with a simple dream and a lot of determination.

Ken Nercessian, our founder, started out as a Chef de Partie at the St. Regis Hotel, cooking for hundreds of people every day. But he had a vision — to create something of his own that would bring joy to people’s lives.

With no business plan and no formal training, he started searching — for equipment, for events, for the courage to try. That determination led him to set up a kettle and a tent at an NYC street festival, popping corn and handing out samples. Soon, people began to follow him from block to block, and Kettle Corn NYC was born.


Our journey hasn’t been without challenges. We faced moments that threatened to end everything — including the loss of our truck and equipment, and the unexpected end of our winter presence at Bryant Park. With our future uncertain, we turned to the voices of our customers, embraced the idea of a food truck, and trusted the process ahead. Each obstacle became a pivot, guiding us toward a stronger and more resilient version of Kettle Corn NYC.

Today, Kettle Corn NYC is more than just popcorn — it’s a mission to spread joy, one kernel at a time. Popcorn makes people happy and the smallest act of kindness, like sharing kettle corn, will brighten anyone's day!
